Balasana
Balasana. Child Pose. Yogini. Greek goddess, classical artistic yoga on wet marble
Kneeling, the torso folds forward, arms extended or resting beside the body, forehead touching the earth. Allow the hips to sink toward the heels and the back to broaden with each breath. If the knees protest, place a folded blanket between the calves and thighs.
Muscles: latissimus dorsi, erector spinae, hip rotators (in gentle release).
Child's Pose is a sanctuary of rest, a place to return whenever the practice becomes too bright or too demanding.
